LAW ENFORCEMENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund's (NLEOMF) Law Enforcement Ambassadors (LEA) program identifies individuals in law enforcement who are committed to help support the National Law Enforcement Museum. LEAs demonstrate this commitment by raising awareness and funds for the Museum. The LEA program gives officers and other organizations the opportunity to participate, first hand, in making the National Museum a reality.

Over the last 24 months, the Law Enforcement Ambassador Program has raised approximately $220,000 for the Museum. Our goal is to raise $1,000,000 by the Museum Opening of 2011. To help us ensure we reach this goal and to participate first hand, click here to download information on becoming a Law Enforcement Ambassador.

LAW ENFORCEMENT AMBASSADOR GUIDELINES

To become a member of the Law Enforcement Ambassador program, you are:

  • Committed to the mission and goals of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and the campaign for the National Law Enforcement Museum.
  • Willing to establish and meet a qualitative and/or financial goal annually.
  • Able to commit time to the campaign effort; available to attend meetings, cultivations events, and/or to participate in occasional conference calls.
  • Familiar with law enforcement officers within your respective department(s), other local departments and organizations in your community.
  • Skilled at giving presentations to small and medium size groups as well as talking to individuals one-on-one.
  • Comfortable asking individuals and organizations to financially support the Museum.
  • Willing to identify and help cultivate major gift prospects from your community.

As a Law Enforcement Ambassador, you are one of our most valued leaders. To help you with your fundraising goal, here are some ways that other Ambassadors have raised money for the Museum:

  • Fundraising:
    • Organize a Gala: In Burbank, California, Chief Tom Hoefel and Officer Joe Dean worked with community leaders to organize a gala. The proceeds benefited the National Law Enforcement Museum. With over 400 guests and $112,000 raised, this is an excellent example of how events can raise a significant amount of money and spread awareness within a community.
    • Host a Golf Tournament: Several organizations and departments have selected to host a Golf Tournament with the proceeds donated to the Museum.

  • Increasing Awareness:
    • Showing the Matter of Honor DVD at local law enforcement association meetings, to individuals in your community and to organizations with links to law enforcement. This has proven to be successful in increasing interest in this vital campaign.
    • Present to your representative organization on behalf of NLEOMF encouraging them to financially support the Campaign for the National Law Enforcement Museum.
    • Help promote Officer Roll Call: an online system that allows law enforcement officers — current and past — to create their own personal profiles and share their experiences.
